Scientists researching the Antarctic ice shelves have made an astonishing discovery – creatures living in complete darkness, 260 km from open water, under an 900 metre thick ice shelf.
The discovery was a complete surprise for the scientists who were investigating the ice and its history. No one expected to find life in such an extreme environment.
Now there are lots of questions about what the creatures are and how they can survive in the icy dark so far from food sources.
