In this post, we’re inviting you to discover a research initiative that isn’t directly about Antarctica. It’s the Atlantic Ocean Research Alliance (AORA).
Launched in 2013, AORA is a cooperative effort between the European Union, Canada and the United States. Its the vision is for an Atlantic Ocean “that is healthy, resilient, safe, productive, understood and treasured so as to promote the well-being, prosperity and security of the present and future generations.” The participants call it ‘The Last Great Exploration Campaign on Earth.’
And because all the world’s oceans are connected, what’s good for the Atlantic will be good for the Southern Ocean around Antarctica too!
