Efforts to create marine protection area fail again

As we reported in our recent post, the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) met for its annual meeting in Tasmania at the end of October. But yet again, the members could not agree on creating a marine protection area that would provide a secure habitat for birds and animals in the Southern Ocean. The EU backed the proposal, however it seems some other countries were not willing to add their support.

The Guardian had this report.
